As more information has become available, we now know Royal Caribbean will be introducing a new family concept called Surfside on Icon of the Seas. Surfside will be located in the area similar to where the Boardwalk is found on Oasis Class ships and will feature a central splash pad with select cabins having direct access. There seems to be a suite area in the forward section of the ship, separate from Surfside.

Families will be able to book into the Family Surfside area in various levels of cabins. So far we have seen:

  • Surfside Family Balcony

  • Surfside Family Suite with cozy kids’ rooms

But the pride of Surfside will be the Ultimate Family Townhouse which features:

  • 1,772 sq ft

  • a 251 soft “Backyard”

  • Net and Bridge feature

  • King sized bed with Matermoll mattress

  • Two kids Bunk beds

  • one double sofa

  • Sleeps 8

  • Master bedroom and kids bedroom will both be on the second level

  • The lower level backyard will have access to Surfside

  • Ping pong table and lounge seating

  • Dining room with interactive gaming table

ICON will be porting from Miami and will likely be alternating a Western itinerary with an Eastern that stops in St Thomas, St Maarten, and Coco Cay.
